About Us

EDUCARE has been supporting Newcastle, Charlestown, and surrounding communities with allied health services since 1999. We provide psychology, psychiatry, neurology, speech pathology, and occupational therapy.

Our mission is to deliver personalised care that strengthens emotional, social, and cognitive development for children, teens, and adults. Every plan is tailored to individual needs and goals. Psychologists at EDUCARE provide therapy, assessments, and interventions to improve mental health, learning, and emotional resilience. Services are designed for all ages. Speech-language therapists empower clients with better communication skills, literacy, and confidence. Tailored programs support speech development and learning outcomes.

Occupational therapy helps children and adults gain independence, develop coordination, and improve social skills. Therapy focuses on behaviour, daily functioning, and life skills. We provide comprehensive assessments for conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and learning difficulties. Accurate diagnosis informs personalised intervention strategies. As an NDIS-accredited provider, EDUCARE ensures families receive funded support where eligible. Telehealth options allow access to specialist care across rural and coastal NSW.

Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions do your speech pathologists treat?

+

Our speech pathologists at EDUCARE treat a broad range of communication, language, literacy, and feeding conditions across all age groups. This includes speech sound disorders, language delay and disorder, stuttering, voice disorders, reading and phonological awareness difficulties, augmentative and alternative communication needs, and feeding and swallowing difficulties in both children and adults. If you are unsure whether your concern falls within our scope, contact our team and we will advise you directly.

Are your services NDIS funded?

+

Yes. EDUCARE is a registered NDIS provider and delivers a wide range of NDIS-funded services including speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychology, behaviour support, and comprehensive assessments. Our team can help you understand which NDIS support categories apply to the services you need and ensure all documentation and claiming processes are handled correctly.

Can I access telehealth if I live outside Newcastle?

+

Absolutely. EDUCARE's telehealth services are available to clients across NSW, including rural and coastal communities where in-person access to specialist allied health is limited. All telehealth sessions are conducted via secure video platforms and deliver the same clinical quality as in-clinic appointments. NDIS-funded telehealth is also available for eligible participants.

How do I book an appointment at EDUCARE?

+

You can book an appointment by calling our Charlestown clinic on (02) 4943 4444 or by submitting an enquiry through our online callback request form. Our administration team will guide you through the referral requirements, funding options, and clinician matching process to get you booked as quickly as possible.

Do you provide assessments for autism and ADHD?

+

Yes. EDUCARE provides comprehensive assessments for autism spectrum disorder and ADHD across childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Our assessments are conducted by experienced psychologists and may involve contributions from speech pathologists and occupational therapists depending on the referral question. Assessment reports are provided in a format suitable for NDIS access requests, school support applications, and GP or specialist referrals.

What age groups do you treat at EDUCARE?

+

EDUCARE provides services across the full lifespan, from toddlers in early intervention through to older adults. Our clinical team includes specialists with expertise in early childhood development, school-aged learning and behaviour, adolescent mental health, and adult neurological and psychological care. There is no age restriction on accessing our services.

Is a GP referral required for psychology or psychiatry at EDUCARE?

+

A GP referral is required to access Medicare-subsidised psychology sessions under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, and is necessary for psychiatry appointments. However, self-referral is possible for privately funded psychology services, and NDIS participants can access psychology through their plan without a GP referral in most cases. Our administration team will clarify the specific requirements for your situation when you make your initial enquiry.
